Denny Berni, a former catcher in the Boston Red Sox organization, leads the Etobicoke Rangers Baseball Program. Berni is firmly implanted in the Etobicoke baseball community as he is the founder of one of the top baseball schools in Canada with Pro Teach Baseball, and is a key coach and administrator with the highly successful Etobicoke Rangers Baseball Organization.
During his amateur career, Denny was a member of 4 Ontario Championship teams and has represented Ontario in three Canadian Championships. After high school Denny attended Orange Coast College and Southern California College on a baseball scholarship. At Southern California College he was twice named an N.A.I.A. California State All-Star, and his junior year recorded a batting average of .420, which still stands as a season best.
After his senior year at S.C.C. Denny was signed to with the Boston Red Sox and spent 4 years in the Boston Red Sox farm system. In the fall of 1993 Denny led Boston’s’ Instructional league with a .322 batting average. During his time in the minors he worked with some of the greatest hitting instructors such as Jim Rice, Carl Yastremski and Terry Crowley.
